Cleethorpes Academy Year 10 students have taken part in a drive to boost the number of young people choosing nursing as a career.
Run by The Talent Foundry, the workshop is designed in partnership with the NHS England and Improvement Team to encourage more students to consider a career in nursing. It looks to dispel and debunk the myths about the sector and inform young people about the opportunities that being a nurse can offer.
The Talent Foundry works to increase social mobility by helping young people discover what they are amazing at, develop valuable new employment skills and take that first step into the world of work.
Talent Foundry Facilitator Jeanette Percival visited Cleethorpes Academy to deliver the interactive workshop, entitled NHS Next Gen Nursing, and was joined on Zoom by practising members of the nursing profession. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and learn about the opportunities available in nursing.
Students who took part said it gave them a better insight into the NHS and nursing as a career and would help them to make more informed decisions about their future choices.
Paul Kaylow, Vice Principal at Cleethorpes Academy, said the workshop was part of the Academy’s on-going commitment to providing as much guidance as possible for students on the multitude of career pathways and opportunities available to them once they leave the Academy.
